Admissions Procedure

At the beginning of each school year, we welcome students to the new Year 1 classes as well as to existing higher grades. Parents can also register their child for an enrollment at any time during the school year. As long as we have free spots available, we are pleased to arrange trial days and a parent interview at your earliest convenience.

OUR ADMISSIONS PROCEDURE IN DETAIL:

1. Online Registration

As a first step, parents need to register their child by filling in the online application form. Having received the application, we will first send out a confirmation email and then our admission team will call parents to discuss the next steps in the admission process. We might ask for further documents and reports.

2. Trial Days

Each child needs to go through our admission process which differs depending on the grade applied for. It is important that we get to know the children and learn more about their level of knowledge in the key subjects and their language skills.

For the trial days for the new Year 1 classes we choose children based on the following criteria:

  1. Siblings or transfer from another Phorms school
  2. Bilingual children
  3. Social and cultural diversity as well as a balanced proportion of girls and boys
  4. Time of registration at Phorms

During the testing for Year 1, the children solve age-appropriate tasks and play with other children of the same age whilst being supervised by our staff.

If applying for a spot in a higher grade, the child will visit the respective class for a three to five day trial period and participate in the regular school day. During that time, parents also have an interview with our Head of Primary School, discussing their family, aims for their child and a possible cooperation with the school.

3. Place Offer

Given the approval of staff after the trial days, we offer selected children a spot at our school. Decisions are made according to availability and the above mentioned criteria. The place offers are sent out via email.

4. School Contract

Once the parents have accepted the spot offer, we send out the school contract by post.
