Fitness with Year 7

Date:
Over the past 5 weeks students in Grade 7 have been working on their knowledge and understanding of fitness & health whilst also trying to improve their current levels of fitness. At the beginning, both students of Years 7a and 7b completed a series of test for their cardio, strength, muscular endurance, speed, agility, and many more. After recording their scores the students went about trying to improve their fitness.

After Mr Robertson delivered a number of differet types of fitness workouts the students took it upon themselves to plan, create, and deliver their own fitness workouts to the rest of the class in small groups. Pupils enjoyed the responsibility and the chance to show off their knowledge and put their class mates through a fun but physically challenging workout session with a focus on improving cardio/stamina.

After weeks of training it was time to re-test our fitness. All students completed the standard "Cooper Test" or better known as the "12 minute run".  After comparing the results from the beginning of the unit we found out that almost every student had improved on his/her level of cardio/stamina with some making significant improvements.  For example Michelle in Year 7a managed to run over 300 meters more in the same amount of time and Freddy in Year 7b ran  400 meters more - thats a whole lap more around an Olympic sized running track!

Well done to all of the Years 7a and 7b students who have worked so hard over the past 5 weeks.
